‘This is not a watch for Minus’, the MiniLip is back!
Its 29 mm polished 316L stainless steel case houses the ingenious dial, which features a highly instructive 3-circle time display. The first circle, in navy blue, indicates the afternoon hours from 1pm to midnight (hence the dark colour), while the second circle, in silver, indicates the morning hours from midnight to midday (hence the silver colour). These two circles can be read with the red hour hand on the dial, and as a reminder, the numerals on the silver dial are also in red. As for the last central white circle, it displays the minutes in a very explicit way: ‘5’ ‘10’ ‘and a quarter’, ‘and a half’…just follow the silvered hand for a simple reading. This little watch is perfect for those who love nostalgia or are just learning. Its navy blue jacquard fabric strap with chrome buckles matches the case and dial perfectly, and will suit all wrists. This MiniLip has all the makings of a great watch!

About minilip
A French history.
1969: The MiniLip, ‘It's not a watch for little people’.
‘It's big (7mm) and wide (31mm). It's heavy and has three dials. It's not a watch for kids’. These were the words with which the Minilip was launched in 1969, in an advertisement that was full of mischief. The Minilip introduced Lip to the world of educational watches specially designed for teaching children to tell the time. It was a niche market, since it concerned children aged between 6 and 8, but in 1969 it nevertheless concerned almost 1.5 million potential wrists that could be covered by a watch (INSEE statistics).
With over 100 years' experience in Besançon, Lip embarked on this path at the end of the 1960s, thinking up a watch that would make it easier to tell the time, adopting Lip's “leitmotif” at the time, an affordable yet high-quality watch.
In 2024, Lip is reviving this iconic watch, with two versions that are pratically identical to the original model.
