The Minilip makes a grand comeback, evolving from its role as an educational watch for children in the 1960s to a symbol of retro style, now reimagined for adults with a childlike spirit. The Minilip originally featured a three-part dial, allowing for the reading of minutes, morning hours, and afternoon hours. Today, staying true to its heritage, this reissue still boasts a dial with three distinct circles and comes in a redesigned 29mm case. This highly anticipated return celebrates the ingenuity and craftsmanship of Besançon, the birthplace of the LIP brand.

This is the morning dial. Watch it at 7 a.m. as you rush through breakfast, at 8 a.m. when you arrive at work in a hurry, at 10 a.m. when it feels like you’ve already powered through the day, and finally at 12 p.m. when you enjoy a well-deserved lunch break with friends.

Designed so you can easily read the minutes without needing your new glasses. Remember, on a regular watch, when the big hand is at 3, it means 15 minutes. On yours, it simply shows "1/4."

The Minilip, for those with a childlike spirit

Launched in 1969, the automatic Minilip was a model for 6-8 year-olds, specially designed for learning to tell the time with an innovative pedagogical device. By perfecting the reading principle, Fred Lip offered “a true French ruby watch”. Creating watches for children enabled Lip to break free from certain watchmaking codes and take liberties with the creation of the Minilip. Divided into three distinct circles, the Minilip dial stands out for its highly didactic approach: each concentric circle allows you to read, from narrowest to widest, the minutes, morning hours and afternoon hours.

The Minilip has just 2 hands: the first for the hours and the second for the minutes. The minute hand is deliberately left too long despite its smaller dial in order to accustom children to reading the time on an adult watch. To facilitate an educational reading, when the large hand is on the 3; it means ¼... The Minilip was conceived and designed to simplify reading and to establish itself as THE children's watch.

In 2024, Lip relaunches this iconic model for grown-ups; a true symbol of nostalgia and playfulness that perfectly embodies the spirit of childhood.

The Minilip sports a revisited vintage style and changes movement for greater precision, switching from automatic to quartz. With a 29mm case, slightly smaller than its predecessor, the Minilip retains its characteristically long minute hand. The Minilip comes with a woven nylon strap, red and black for the gold version and blue and black for the silver version.

It adapts to the schedules of grown-ups with a French-style reading: at 7 a.m. when you're getting ready for breakfast, at 8 a.m. when you're rushing to work, at 10 a.m. when you feel like you've already done your morning...
